SIP's Technology (Ozone) Versus Ultra Violet Light
There are two technologies being used today to automatically sanitize the water cooler's reservoir on a daily basis. They are ozone made by corona discharge (used by SIP) - or ultra violet light. The general consensus is that ozone made using a corona discharge is a far superior technology to ultra violet light.
An ultra violet light bulb has to be changed at least once a year. SIP's corona discharge tube never, has to be changed. The cost of replacing these bulbs is high AND their efficiency decreases over the life of the bulb.

Also, ultra violet bulbs are much less efficient than a corona discharge tube creating ozone. According to the Water Quality Association (www.wqa.org), it would take about 44 kWh to make 1 kg of ozone using UV. To make the same amount of ozone with our technology, it would take only 6-8 kWh - about 6 times more energy efficient!
The MAXIMUM production rate of a UV bulb making ozone is 1.94 g/kWh. The maximum production rate for corona discharge is 55 g/kWh. It's just a better technology!
